Robin Adkins and daughter Lexi
For any woman, a diagnosis of breast cancer is shocking. To Robin Adkins, her diagnosis of breast cancer was not only a shock, but it put the most important thing in her life at risk ? her relationship with her four-year-old daughter, Lexi.
"It took us thirteen years to have a baby," Robin recalled, "and Lexi is our little princess ? she's the light of our lives. My brother and father both passed away from cancer, and I had never personally known someone who survived cancer. I was scared."
Robin was determined to do whatever she had to do to survive. She consulted with medical oncologist Dr. Francis Cuevas, had a lumpectomy performed by Dr. Jack Traylor and underwent 33 radiation treatments at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center.
"Today I feel fabulous," Robin said. "I have a good prognosis, and I feel very positive about the future."
And the future includes lots of family time with her husband and their daughter, Lexi.
