Medical Oncology
The staff of the Medical Oncology Program at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center is committed to improving the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with cancer. Medical oncologists, physicians with special training and experience in diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of malignant diseases, plan cancer treatments involving the use of chemotherapy, hormonal agents and/or biological therapy in the management of cancer.
At the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, medical oncologists care for their patients from diagnosis throughout the course of the disease by educating patients about their cancer and the stages of its development, discussing treatment options and making recommendations and monitoring the care and treatment of the patient.
Our medical oncologists are committed in the fight against cancer, and they encourage participation in current clinical trials and research for patients who meet the criteria for participation. Participants in clinical trials may play a more active role in their own health care, gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available and help others by contributing to medical research.
