Diagnostic Breast Center

Patients with breast cancer or suspected breast cancer, and patients who are at high risk to develop breast cancer are offered comprehensive care and treatment in a compassionate and timely manner by an experienced and caring staff. Medical director and surgeon Jack Traylor, MD, and surgical breast oncologist Shawn McKinney, MD, FACS, have a thorough understanding of breast disease based on years of experience and comprehensive, current training. They are assisted by three full-time oncology nurses and a surgical assistant who are dedicated to the breast cancer program and their patients. Highly trained digital mammography, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy technicians assist the physicians in obtaining diagnostic results.

All mammogram exams are performed using digital mammography. Stereotactic and digital ultrasound biopsies are also performed in the center.

Additional services include a mentoring program for cancer patients, physician-performed evaluations for genetic testing and education for the patient and family using one-to-one instruction and a library of books and videos.

Support Group: Sisters of Hope

Sisters of Hope is a free support group for women with breast cancer. It meets monthly on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. under the direction of surgical breast oncologist Shawn McKinney, MD, for friendship, education and sharing.
